Mothers of Okinawa citizens who got injured in Okinawa war and got difficult to walk, were carried on a stretcher by both children. 沖縄戦にて、全死亡者（軍人・軍属・民間人合計）は約18万8千人以上に達して戦没率36.9%以上に上った。特に沖縄市民の犠牲者は約3万9千人以上となり、市民として太平洋戦争にて最大の犠牲者となった。沖縄戦で負傷して歩行困難となった沖縄市民の母親が、子供ともに担架に乗せられた。アメリカ軍の無差別な攻撃に、軍人も住民も次々と命を奪われていった。捕虜になった母親は、アメリカ軍の虐殺に不信と恐怖から睨みつけた。幼い子供も、母親の側で呆然と不安に見つめた。
